How your donations help

We are grateful to everyone who has made donations to Wallingford Community Hospital

We raised a total of £192 at Wallingford Local Producers Market for our pre-loved books and Christmas cards. Monies raised will go towards presents for patients in Wallingford hospital on Christmas Day.

We are delighted to welcome Green Acre Gardening team to maintain the two courtyard gardens at the hospital.  Green Acre Garden Maintenance is a Style Acre social enterprise, established to provide work opportunities and training for people with  learning disabilities and autism.

Your money helped to fund Art supplies for the Mental Health unit art group for those who use drawing and painting to support their wellbeing.  Using creativity can be helpful as a form of self-expression as well as a mindfulness exercise.

With your continued support Your donations helped to fund a new relative’s room at Wallingford Hospital to support families of patients with terminal illnesses. The hospital now provides two end-of-life care beds and the relatives room offers a private and much-needed space for family members to spend time when they need quiet time or respite.

Your money helped to provide a brand-new fully furnished staff room for the Mental Health Team based at the hospital to relax and have time out away from their desks.

Your money helped us to continue to provide a daily newspapers for patients on St Leonards ward.

Your money helped to provide a new Multi-Adjust chair. This Multi-Adjust chair is adaptable and provides comfort and postural support for all clients who have mobility issues. It helps clients to get in and out of the chair more easily and can also be used as a reclining chair.

Your money helped to support the ‘Artist in Residence programme’.

A senior member of staff said ‘The mood of the whole ward changes when the artists are here, people gather and take part, it brings pleasure and joy to everyone.

Comments from patients: “This is the first painting I have ever done – in my whole life and I’m 86! I’m really glad I came along today; it has taken me somewhere else in my mind for a while!”

“My mum’s discovered a new talent for drawing at 94”

It’s been so nice working with you- you have enlightened me. It gives us a talking point and you have made a real difference to all of us.”

With your continued support the relative’s room has been furnished with a sofa bed, reclining chair, a television and refreshments. They have also teamed up with a local school who will be providing artwork for the walls.  In the coming months, the hospital is planning to upgrade the relative’s room further, to a bigger space for families to stay overnight.

Your money helps to maintain the courtyard gardens. We are hoping to transform the hospital’s courtyard into a sensory garden so that patients and families can spend time outside in a pleasant and calming environment.

Your donations helped to provide better quality stethoscopes to therapists.

“The team would like to thank the League of Friends for their generosity.  The high-quality stethoscopes enable the therapy team to take accurate blood pressures and auscultate patient’s chests.  This will mean better assessments to inform decisions over patient care, particularly those who are acutely unwell”.     With great thanks, In-Patient Therapy.

Your money helped to buy wonderful Christmas presents of blankets and candles for those patients in over the festive period.

“The patients loved their gifts. The blankets were a hit and are being shown proudly on the beds. As for the candles, we have had many compliments on how lovely they smelt”. Lauren Cornish, Assistant Practitioner, Therapy Team.
